What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a theoretically-based, age-appropriate approach to child therapy that builds on the normal communication style of children. Therapists strategically use play therapy to help children express what is troubling them when they do not have the verbal language to express their thoughts & feelings.

CQ Play Therapy is passionate about supporting children and families to access high-quality Play Therapy services.

We welcome both privately paying clients and NDIS self-managed or plan-managed participants.

With over 10 years’ experience in the education sector, alongside additional studies in Child-Centred Play Therapy, CQ Play Therapy brings a strong understanding of child development, learning, behaviour, and the complexities of supporting children within educational settings. This background allows for a holistic and practical approach that bridges therapeutic support with the everyday environments children navigate at school and home.

CQ Play Therapy is proudly registered with Play Therapy Practitioners Australia (PTPA) and works closely alongside children and their families to support progress toward individual NDIS goals. Collaboration is central to our practice, and we value working in partnership with schools and other professionals involved in each child’s care to ensure the best possible outcomes.
